The Hand Eye Interactive Technology (HIT) platform will launch with a proprietary Interactive Television (ITV) application, “HotSpot.”

HotSpot will unlock endless opportunities for advertising, product placement and e-Commerce – by driving ITV channel revenue for advertisers, content owners, broadcasters, cable companies and wireless carriers alike.

HotSpot will enable an end-user TV viewer to simply point their HIT-enabled Smart Phone/mobile device at a HIT-enabled TV screen/video display (LCD, plasma, etc.) and interact with the highlighted “Hot Spot” objects on the screen.

HotSpot can be embedded within broadcast television, pre-recorded programming, such as Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or TiVO programming, as well as DVD content.  HIT code on the Set Top Box (STB) interacts with the HIT code on the mobile device, to form a complete 2-way system.

HotSpot-enabled programming contains XML metadata and specific Hand Eye code, written to enable a range of user actions that facilitate e-Commerce.  Hand Eye’s code is designed for interoperability and deployment across a wide variety of current Interactive TV systems, and will serve as a key infrastructure and enablement layer in Interactive TV commerce.

In a typical scenario, the viewer/end-user will see an item on TV, featured as either an advertisement or as a product placement.  HIT’s patent-pending image processing technology “sees what the viewer sees,” via targeting through the mobile device’s camera.  The end user simply points their Smart Phone/mobile device at the screen, and uses HIT to select an object (the HotSpot) of interest and take action.  In the event that multiple HotSpots are on the screen at the same time, HIT will present the end user with a menu of the available HotSpots, and he/she can select from that list.  All manner of on-screen objects, including computer graphics, news “crawls” and other dynamic content, can be encoded with HotSpot tags, to enable multiple commerce options within a given scene or video frame.

In the case of Interactive TV, Hand Eye can enable the following:
Click to Buy
Click to Search
Click to Web
Click for Coupon
Click to Dial Phone
Click to Download
(Direct e-Commerce)
(Paid search engine placement)
(Direct to advertiser URL)
(Direct to consumer, 1-1 marketing)
(Direct customer acquisition)
(Direct sale of downloadable product)

Using HIT, the user can instantly purchase items shown on screen, or receive marketing information.  HotSpot enables end users to “interact and transact” with TV in a brand-new way.

Because HIT technology uniquely registers each Smart Phone or mobile device, multiple users can interact with the video display simultaneously.  Billing information and privacy levels are set by the end-user, who can choose to arrange payment via the wireless service provider, the cable company or another third party.

Hand Eye’s ITV solution will also accommodate metrics, such as click-through-rates, instant sales figures, and end user (opt-in) demographics and other advanced reporting capabilities.

Hand Eye’s HotSpot application facilitates a new and unique way for end users to interact and transact with television programming.  HotSpot will drive additional value from advertising and product placements; create new pathways for monetization of new and re-purposed TV content, and offer cable TV, satellite and wireless carriers a stake in the value chain.
